I think this has come up before. Euro is for gassers, Euro L and LX are for diesels. The LX would be better for diesels as it has the MB 229.52 spec, the L is just 229.51 spec.

Depends on the vehicle, I suppose.
Any of these oils would take a typical 4.6 Liter Ford out to 300,000 miles with EASE.

..

What was the pricing between them? Seems like theyre competing against themselves with those options, all look very similar too.

The problem with all of those Pennzoil Euro oils is that they are virtually impossible to find at a local retailer. I buy 0w-30 Euro Castrol (BMW LL-01 and MB 229.5) from Amazon, but I can also buy it locally at Car Quest any time. Today's Amazon price is $52.29 for 6 quarts. For the yellow bottle Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w-40 (BMW LL-01 and MB 229.5), Amazon's price is $72.08 for 6 quarts.

Shell/Pennzoil have their heads up their back side. Hard to find and priced too high.

I suppose it does.

Gas: 5W-40. Diesel: Pick the one that meets specs.

Why would they make 0w40 and 5w40 ? I loaded up on 0w40 an 5w30 they other day , 1 qt for 3.97 a pop .It was the PP variety not ultra .

What does a manufacturer have to with third party retailer's sales price? Your rant is illogical.

Euro L and LX are SN rated so they are rated for gasoline engines.

Yes, you can use them in a gasser, but they're designed for diesels. They're probably fine for regular 5k oil changes, but I'd rather run an MB spec 229.5 to 10k than any of those diesel spec oils.

The Euro L is just fine for gasoline engines. It also meets the MB standard you reference above; It meets BMW LL-04 and GM Dexos Gen2 standards as well. I use it in my daughter's 2013 Suzuki SX4 SB without concern.
