Anybody have suggestions for the best option on older road brakes (I'm talking 27 inch era)? Historically I have always used the Dia Comp/Cane Creek GreyMatter and those do work... but there has to be better options. I don't necessarily want to play around with a modern caliper cartridge set up but I was thinking about using some Kool-stops as those have worked VERY well for me in canti setups before... Thoughts?

Well, I'm not sure if it matters. I suppose in theory the pad material could be optimized for one or the other but not something I am aware of. This particular bike is on machined alloys.

Kool stop for me on my mtb's. I'm tempted to buy a few sets and leave them on the dash of my car to age them. The best set I have is the oldest and they do 1 finger endos quite easily.
