Where did you get that "US average cars mileage" figure?
While you're at it can you confirm that the average age of a car in the US is well above 11 years?
It was around 3 to 4 years in the '70's if I heard correctly.

My 2002 Volvo V70 sold @ 198,600 miles 5W-30, 0W-30, 0W-407,500 mi. OCI (factory recommendation)

1986 Dodge Caravan with 2.6L Mitsubishi Oil Burner - 460,000km (287,000 Miles) - Electrical Fire

1994 Ford Tempo - 380,000km (237,000 Miles) - Deer

2006 Hyundai Santa Fe 535,000km (334,000 Miles) - Snapped Cam

2003 Toyotas rav4

150,000 mile dino oil twice per year about 10 to 12,000 mile annually , oil was changed more frequently in earlier years

2007 Chevy Colorado

148,000 miles dino oil once per year , 4 to 5,000 mile annually , vehicle was high mileage until the last few years

neither burn oil

07 Hyundai SantaFe 3.3
158,000 miles
5K OC interval
Hyundai oil filters
Various 5-30 Synthetic oils, but primarily Quaker State

Runs like the day I bought it. Uses no oil.

Highest mileage ever achieved was 160,000 on my GMC S-15 Jimmy. 5w30, all non-synthetic, and whatever was on-sale. 3000-mile interval except for the 11 months I had an insane commute and was piling on highway miles; I extended that interval to 4000 miles or so and was still changing the oil almost monthly. Strictly AC-Delco filters. This was before I discovered BITOG.

The current fleet's winner is the Dakota at 120,000 and counting. 10W30 per the manual, synthetic in winter months, regular the rest of the year. 3000-mile-ish interval. When I use synthetic I use a premium filter like Fram Ultra or NAPA Gold, otherwise whatever is in the stash; and most of that stash was either free after rebate or a very reduced cost. Oil is still whatever is on-sale.

94 Crown vic 4.6, 208k miles, Castrol gtx dino 5k oci, no issues.

05 Silverado 5.3, 182k miles, any name brand syn 10k oci, no issues.

Dads truck, 00 Silverado 5.3, 240k miles, mobil 1, 1 year oci, 10-15k, burns oil, no other issues.

All these vehicles have had zero engine work.

See my sig for more info.

Ranger - 85k miles
4Runner - 250K miles
B2500 Van - 175k miles
F150 - 255k miles

I used to change the oil yearly (1,500 - 5,000 miles) but now I'm using UOA's to see if I can stretch it a couple of years.

Since retired I, and moving to town, we don't drive much. The Dodge is a camper and used to do yearly 5k mile round trips to visit family (they are dotted across the country). I haven't done that for a couple of years now. The Ranger was the wife's go to work truck and the F150 mine. Since she retired and we bought the 4Runner we take that everywhere and the trucks don't get much use.

My Civic has 146k on it, I bought it at 80k and have run TGMO 0w20, M1 0w20 AFE and now Ultra Platinum 5w20.

The BMW has 107k on it, we bought it at 50k and have run M1 0w40 and now Castrol 0w40.

The Corvette is not even close to being considered high mileage yet, just 8k on it.

230k miles on the Camry. My brother has been borrowing it since April. I ran 6,500-8,000 mile OCI's on synthetic. But bought it at 194k miles.

Runs and drives great. Ugly as heck though.

See my former cars listed below. The Mazda used mostly 10W-40 of whatever brand was on sale, plus a few changes of 10W-30. Oil in it was changed about every 6000 miles, and oil filter normally about every 18,000. The Subaru used mostly 10W-40 too, with a few changes of SAE 30.

96 Mercury Grand Marquis - sold at 257k miles (half were mine) and ran on whatever was cheap - usually Chevron Supreme 5w30 and a motorcraft fl-820s filter
09 Grand Marquis - 164k miles and currently running 5 qts M1 HM 5w20, 1qt QSUD 0w20, and a half quart of Rislone with M1 EP filter. OCI is 7500 miles or sooner depending on weather. Consumes no oil and seems to run the smoothest on Castrol Magnatec 5w20, but it gets whatever is on sale with rebate. On the last fill the Rislone cost more than the oil and filter combined.

'97 Toyota T-100 3.4L 276k uses no oil, yet, basic sale 5/30....rust will win in the next 5yrs.
