Hi everyone,

I take a car with a 6A12 Mitsubishi MIVEC V6 in it.
The engine is mostly stock bar bolt ons.

I currently use Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 in it and wondering if Liqui Moly snythoil is a better option for the use?

It is about $30 more and is 10W60 viscosity.

If I am not mistaken SHU is an SN oil and this is an SL oil. Does that make SHU a better option overall?

Specifications and approvals for Liqui Mollly:
ACEA A3 ; ACEA B4 ; API SL ; API CF

- BMW Longlife-98
- Ford WSS-M2C937-A
- MB 229.3- Porsche A40
- VW 502.00/505.00 recommended

Do you race the car? Is it high performance? Do you really need to use an oil with those specific qualities? Ask yourself if its worth it.What does the factory spec for viscosity in this engine?

I don't competitively race it, but yes it is on the track and endures track conditions.
The factory spec for viscosity is 5W30.

As far as being "worth it", I am not too concerned about spending a few extra dollars if the oil is actually better.
So really I'd buy the better of the two, rather than the cheaper of the two if it is still good for the application.

I think 5w-40 is a good choice, If you're getting really high oil temps on the race track 10w-60 could be of benefit.

I am getting about 110c max at the track so far which is 230f.
From what I read this is fine?

Also the car gets driven little and is started infrequently as it is a race car.
How often should I be changing the SHU?
