This filter is off a 2016 Chevy cargo/express van we use at work. V8 engine and 60,459 miles on it. Put a Auto Extra (forgot part # ) and Eco Power 5w30 oil back in and on.

Made on March 13, 2018 and on Line "G" 1st shift in Fayetteville NC

Maybe I'm stupid for asking this; but is this a carquest "blue"

Silicone adbv was really soft and pliable unlike the black adbv on Pro Motive carp filter

Yep, Carquest Blue ... Blue band on the can. The "Red" version would have the red band.

Hard for me to imagine.😉

I don’t say it very often, Adam, but I really appreciate all of this filter cutting and posting you do. I know you’re not the only one who posts them, but you sure do a lot!

This one is obviously made by Purolator. Carquest changes suppliers now and then - probably driven by the lowest bidder. I think Fram made them for awhile at one time.

Another Puro made for, this time for CQ (blue). At 7800 mi oci, based on pics shown looks excellent. According to an anecdote on this sub forum, M&H Puro been making CQ at least since April 2016.

Thanks for c&p.

Red uses nitrile adbv and more equivalent to basic red Puro. Blue, uses silicone adbv more equivalent to Puro One blue.

So when I enter Conquest and on the counter lays the oil filter I just requested, how do I find out who made that particular oil filter, prior to purchase?
How to easily identify differences?

Date code format is a good way to tell if it's made by either Purolator or Fram. Not sure if any other company has made them for Carquest. Base plate design usually gives a clue too.

Wix made them till ~2015.
Fram/Champ (Frampion) made them for around a year or so (mid 2015 to early 2017), and then Purolator after that.

I think some of the large diesel filters may still be made by Wix (or were made till around 2017).

Most filters are relatively easy to see who makes them.
If they have oval inlet holes, they are Purolator made. If they have louvers, they are Purolator made.
Date code is on top and cryptic (but easy to decode if you know the pattern)

Wix made have round inlet holes, spiral center tube has round holes, and has a date code on the top of the filter.

Fram will have round or slightly oval inlet holes, the center tube will have holes, but also has a little strip inside that looks like sideways louvers. Date code is cryptic and on the side of the can.

Not many Wix or Frampion made CQ filters out there anymore, most all will be Purolator made now.

Here are a few I have cut open:

CQ Blue, Wix made

CQ Red, Wix made

CQ Red, Fram made
