Gotta love charcoal canister evap systems on bikes. With the fuel tank mounted directly over the engine, that can works overtime after a long ride and parking in the sun. Sun heats tank. Engine heats tank. Canister loads up. Hard starting and idle-up.

I always thought those canisters were half-baked (not thoroughly thought through during design). You'd think they'd HAVE to be set at a high point so liquid fuel was out of the equation.

That you can fill a canister by topping-off your fuel tank (automobiles) is bad design.

Can't you just put a restriction orifice in the purge line? Let it dry out... slowly.

These things have been on cars since ~1972. You'd think they have the driveability down.

Just gotta tell you all.

A friend had a 2005 S-10. Under the vehicle was an electrically controlled valve which allowed purge air to enter the EVAP system.

It contained a small air filter (2.5" diameter, 6" long cylinder) for obvious reasons. The entire thing died. It was completely full of sand. The entire thing.

Being a common fuel system part, the local good parts store had one. The new one just plugged in.

Finding a place to hang it was challenging due to severe rust (the GM Mark of Excellence).

At least the darn canister and those weird plastic hoses weren't involved.

GMT800 trucks have the same system and problems. As long as it is easy to change you cannot complain!
