I recently purchased a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica with 29,000 miles. As many of you may be aware there have been a lot of “question marks” regarding this 9 speed transmission. I actually had mine at the dealer due to hard shifting and a recall for that issue and it is fine now. They reprogrammed the TCM and reset all the shift points and it shifts perfect now. However, there is one thing I notice and I’m hoping to maybe hear from someone else who is familiar with this vehicle or owns one. Basically what it is doing is at any speed, I hear a THUMP sound a split second after I step on the accelerator and I hear the same thing a split second after I take my foot off the accelerator. As I said, the shifting is fine and is not clunky and I can’t feel anything either. The dealership drove it and documented the sound as they heard it, and stated there is nothing wrong based on the fact that other Pacificas are doing it. To me that’s like saying, “well this guy has cancer, must be normal since other people have cancer to”. The dealer did say they think it is the transmission solenoid but they act like they don’t know for sure. I understand it has a spring mechanism and the solenoid is run hydraulically. So could that be what I am hearing? Sometimes the thump sound is louder than other times and it does it at any speed. I realize that just talking about it here does not truly diagnose an issue, but looking for opinions or insight to this. Also, I've already been on Chrysler forums and find out nothing.
