Rotella oil filters??

The little info Ive found says Rotella oil filters are made by Purolator?
Ive found quite a few RT0-177's for $5 each at the local walmart. How different can they be from the Motorcraft FL-2051s which is also supposed to be purolator made?

Both are junk. Use the Fram orange can instead

I second the Fram, I use the orange can on my 7.3 with no problems to speak of. My particular filter has metal end caps too, not sure if other diesel filters have them or not. One thing I don't like about it is lack of the grippy stuff on the end to make it easier to get off.

As picky as Ford diesels are about clean oil, it's not worth risking a torn filter up next to a very expensive injector or two! I think all the engines made after 7.3 are sequential injectors too so if one goes, all 8 have to be replaced. On a 7.3, you can get away with doing them individually.

I have also seen these being on clearance at my local WalMart.
