Subject says it all. Nothing "obvious" when sniffing around the engine bay, under the gas tank and filler neck, and cap.

What's my best way to diagnose these recurring codes? Car runs flawlessly for 17 years and 138k. Just older. Some rubber deterioration visually but nothing standing out.

Probably the charcoal canister or some other thing in the evap system. Older Toyotas do sometimes have problems with the evap systems.

Hoses in the engine compartment can be pretty brittle even if they don't look like it. Original hoses on my car looked passable but crumbled apart when I went to replace them. At that age of vehicle, throwing new vacuum hoses on can never hurt.

After that you may need a smoke generator to see where any leak(s) are.

Yeah I was researching this. Slightly above my pay grade; I'd gladly learn from someone who knew what they were doing.

Was the fuel tank cap very loose at all? Check the clean air hose from the top air filter housing going to a small solenoid (vsv) vacuum switching valve. Report back when you can
