Would you run this Fram FPS3600?

Hey all!

I just bought this filter from rockauto. I noticed it has some glue "baked" on it in two different locations by the gasket. I wasn't able to scrape it off.

Would you run it? I've never seen this before on a filter...

I would run it-if you can't scrape it off it's unlikely that hot oil would take it off. Plus, if it did break loose, it's on the inlet side, the media would catch it.

That is not a problem

What if it comes loose and holds the ADBV open? I bet I could get it off with a screwdriver, pocket knife, or some other implement of destruction.

I'll bite.

A real oil filter such as?

A Purolator..

Something sharp like a pick could get that off.

Also probably some brake cleaner on a cotton swab will melt that off quick.

if you're worried about it, buy one locally and swap it out then tell the cashier this item should not go back on the shelf.

I am sure that is the same glue that holds the whole filter together. If you are worried about that coming off, I would worry (not) about the whole filter falling apart.
