Could someone explain what "deposit weight" means. I'm using a Schaffer's racing oil, the tech sheet for this product the says the deposit weight in mg is 23.8. And is this figure for length of time ? V/R Mike

That's the amount of weight deposited on a heated rod used to simulate turbochargers. An OEM years ago wanted to learn about deposits of oil in turbochargers, due to the extreme heat, so ASTM D6335 was developed to simulate this. Test is run for 114 minutes.

Kudos for Schaeffer posting that information! Most oil companies wont even post TEOST data, wonder why
