I have brake parts coming for my 2002 Regal. I have done brakes before but have a few questions..

1. Why do one of the pins have a rubber end?
2. How do you know where these pins go?
3. Do you put just a little grease on the pins or a lot?

1)for noise and vibration(reduction)
2)where they came from.
3)that is kinda unscientific but somewhere in between. a little bit more than lightly but not blobs.
also never use those little packets they usually swell the rubber on the caliper guide pin.
use sil-glyde

It seems as though the pin with the rubber end is always in the bottom position, at least on our cars (multiple Japanese models) as well as a '14 Fusion. Just checked the field service manual for my '08 Infiniti G35 and the brake component diagram doesn't refer to the rubber-ended pin but the picture shows an different pin on the bottom.
