I parked my Explorer and locked the doors . When I returned to the vehicle and went to start it the key went into the ignition but will not turn .

I tried to jiggle the shifter and steering wheel but the key will not turn at all .

Any ideas are appreciated .

There are actuators in the column that go from the tumbler down to the ignition switch. Those tend to break and the ignition tumbler tends to seize up a lot as well. The tumblers from Ford are sold in pieces and are built to your existing key so you don't have to reprogram PATS.

Did you try a 2nd key?
Also pull hard on the steering wheel to the left, while wiggling the key.
Still no luck?.... Use a-lot of force on your grip and push to the left with your dominant right hand, not pull to the left with your weaker left hand. It will seem awkward, for you-now have to wiggle the key with your left hand.
