Moved in 5 months ago. Trying to match the ceiling finish. I'm doing it myself using Jt Compound. I am not too bad with it.

Not popcorn just has a very light texture. I was thinking maybe used a 1/2 roller?

Hopefully can see from Pic below.

That is a very faint, and I mean very faint knock down. A 1/2" roller will not duplicate that. You'd have to blend it in by doing a knock down with your joint compound. Apply it very thin, pull it with a hawk, trowel, or taping knife, depending on the size of the area, and then "knock it down with a trowel or taping knife. There are some how to videos on how to do knock downs. Try it on a sheetrock scrap to get the feel for how thick or thin to apply it.

That looks to me like it's mud sprayed on with a gun, not rolled.
You can rent them. And then smooth it with a knife.

It looks very similar to my ceiling I sprayed with a hopper gun and knocked down with a spray shield.

You want this and lightweight drywall compound thinned down to about pancake batter consistency.
Spray away, and knock it down with a wide drywall compound knife.
