I've seen the question, Why bypass filter? a few times.
This may answer some basic ?'s.

Yes indeed why, as the engines properly maintained usually out last the ownership and probably more of our non commercial vehicles

A bypass is a good idea-I've had a few modern engines that ran so clean that I've wondered if just a bypass would be better than a full flow.
