Need to touch up some baseboards and maybe some wall paint. Is bringing in a paint chip to paint store still the main way to match up?

best is if you have the original formula. paint chip will be close . maybe good enough for trim, but usually walls need to be completely repainted to look good unless you have the original formula or can of paint

It also depends how long ago the original paint was put on.

Cannot see signatures any longer so it doesn’t matter.

Painted as a new construction in 2005. No orig paint canisters available. Baseboards are the usual white, need touch up here and there where flaked off at the fluted angle that runs topside of the boards. Mainly in bathrooms near shower/bath areas.

Might be able to get away with using Mr Clean Magic Eraser and some general cleanup of the walls since there's no significant dings or chips, mainly some scuffs here and there that might clean off with the right method. Have always lived very lightly and gently in the home, no small kids, etc. Just needs a few tweaks here and there.

A pro painter would recommend repainting all the baseboards in the room. You may get a close match with a chip match but it will usually be noticeable if you look closely. Part of the match will be sheen, which is more difficult to replicate than colour alone. On the other hand maybe no-one will look closely at baseboards.

Take a closeup pic of the paint with your phone and match those up with the paint samples at the paint store. Take those samples home and verify there the right color.
