I purchased an AC Delco Professional lower ball joint for the Maxima and it came without the zerk fitting. The whole where the fitting should go is 6mm and has no threads. I see 6mm, 1/4" (6.35mm) and 7mm zerk fittings.
What should be the right size zerk fitting?

I put a 3/16 hole in a ball joint and the Zerk I had threaded in easily. A dab of RTV works too. I would get a couple of each.

I will bet that it was supposed to have a drive-style zerk installed at the factory, but it did not get it. Unless it missed both the tapping of the hole and the zerk getting put in the box.

I'm guessing that you need a self-tapping zerk. I had a discussion about them with a seasoned NAPA counter man a few months ago. He told me that there was no such thing...until I showed him some.

Thanks for the replies!
I got the replacement today and the initial one I received (subject of this thread) is going back.
This is the old one, with some casting defect for the boot.

No thread where the (missing from the package) grease fitting should go

The new one with threads and included grease fitting.
