Used Rock Auto for the first time. Ordered from Canada and found they catered to Canadian orders just fine. I ordered two gas charged struts for the hatch on my 2008 Suburban. Each strut was less than $20 US. They charged me $16.03 Canadian for shipping, $2.44 for Duty, because the struts were not made in the USA, and they charged 5% for GST. They did not charge me for BC sales tax. The package was mailed in a cardboard box large enough that there was no chance of bending the struts. They also later gave me a discount code that is valid for Canadian orders.

Later on I ordered a set of Iridium spark plugs that were $20 cheaper than anything I could find locally even with shipping etc.

They also gave me this cool magnetic collector magnet for my tool chest. Amyone collecting these things?

Great prices, reasonable shipping charges, lots of good experiences. They are in Wisconsin....they're practically Canadians!

I suppose 25 of them on my fridge constitutes a collection.

I should sell it on ebay (Ha-Ha).

A friend just bought a used car after decades of not owning one. He asked me to 'hold his hand' through the process. I spied receipts in the glovebox and when done I organized them and composed an email alerting him to R&M tasks which had been done to the car and to those which hadn't.

I stressed RockAuto's handiness. I mentioned the discount codes as well as the expensive moving target their shipping costs can be.

I may ask him for his magnets.....haven't decided yet.

Ordered from rockauto many times. they have warehouses all over and even in Canada. The tow mirrors for my 2009 F150 came from a Warehouse in Edmonton within 2 days of ordering. If I can keep all the items being shipped from a single location, it can save a lot of money.

I wondered how to do this. For anyone who is considering buying from RockAuto, I didn't see any "ship from one warehouse" option. But as soon as I ordered another item that was NOT from the warehouse as the first 2 items in my cart, each item was assigned an icon A or B, indicating which items were from which warehouse--so I could easily cut down on shipping by deleting the odd item out. That is pretty cool--I will need to keep shipping costs down, in order to make these Wix filter purchases work.

Snagglefoot,

Congrats. I've been using rockauto for probably at least 10 years. Always with the 5% off coupon code.

You been hooked in no time. Last purchase for me was 6 Fram utras for my two vehicles. Got them all shipped from one warehouse to keep costs to under 12 bucks.

I collect the magnets.
I've been ordering parts from them for the last 7+ years.
If it's something I can't wait for I'll go to Autozone or Advance Auto.
Rockauto prices are cheaper including shipping, they have more of a selection in parts, and I've never had to send a part back for any reason. (I've been lucky so far).
I predict I'll get more of these magnets, after all my daughter owns a Saturn and I own a Ford. hide smile

I order a lot of parts for my 2 oldies from Rockauto. When you're not in a hurry to get parts, might as well get them cheaper, especially when it's the very same brand you would buy locally (if available).

It amazes me that despite the dollar exchange rate and shipping charges, RA is almost always cheaper than Canadian stores.

How do you get your car printed on one of their magnets?

I've yet to find a place that can beat RockAuto prices, consistently at least. I just ordered new brakes for the CX-5 and RockAuto was once again the cheapest. This isn't always the case, but I'd say at least 90% of the time it is.

Raybestos Rotors

RockAuto - $159.19
Amazon - $200.55
