I think that in Louisiana's hot climate, 10w30 year round would be fine.

Check thread title.

It's not going to do any harm to run the 10w-30---you may lose a bit of fuel economy, but, heck, it's a Yukon to start with.

+1. I don't consider myself a high vis guy, but I believe the xW20 thing is a CAFE requirement, so I run 5W30.

Nice job buying oil without knowing what to buy.
I run 5w30 in my silverado now thats specced for 0w20. Runs the same to me. The 2019s are back to 5w30 anyway. No more 0w20 for gm trucks

Is it 5w-30 for all 2019 Chevy truck engines or just the ones with dynamic fuel managements and the 4.3 v6?

I am thinking the L83 and the L86 are still 0w-20? I will be looking into this as I have a '16 Suburban and would run a 0w-30 or 5w-30 if allowed.

Dexos1 5W-30 is what they run here. Used to be 0W-20, but there's been a recent switch from what I gather.

Then why are the 2019's spec'd for 5W-30?

That is the first I heard of it. Next time I am at the dealer I will ask them why the sudden change. Should be a interesting answer.

Because GM said so? Until they hit the lots and one can read the owners manual only then we will know what GM is recommending to use at what outside temperatures per the chart in the owners manual.

Now for the new I6 Duramax diesel, an AC/Delco 0w-20 is now available for dealers to purchase to have on hand when those trucks hit the lots in early 2019.
