How much does one of the soap-based additives that affect the density of the mixture to throw off a ball-type or floating-needle type tester to check the coolant ratio? I went to 2 local auto parts stores and they don't sell the test strips anymore, but I'm not sure how much additives throw off test strips or refractometers either.

I run Dex-Cool and a bottle of VP Cool-Down (a soap type product) to help bring the temps down at the track, my issue now is I'm unsure of what my mix is for when winter comes around. The car is stored all winter, but I still don't want it freeze up in the garage.

If you can't find a solution put a sample in a container and put it in your freezer. Normally freezers are at 0 F. (-18 C). If it doesn't freeze you should be OK to at least that temp. That should do for Massachusetts, correct?
