I really am partial to shell products( My Dad had 3 shell stations back in the 70's and 80's)and want to change my oil back to a sopus brand. I have been using redline 5w30 and it did quiet the engine down initially until i heard some pretty loud tapping and pulled the rocker trunnions apart and noticed petty bad wear and replaced the caged roller bearings with bronze bushings and it is much quieter now. 2008 z06 basically stock with headers and no cats. so i dont have to worry about hurtng them with the wrong oil. I deleted my oil cooler and my oil temps reach temp pretty quickly and run real close to my coolant temps (200-210) Thanks alot for any input.

Rotella T6 5w40

I would like to see pictures of worn stock trunnion rollers/races. Don't see that very often as the usual mode of failure is them coming apart & dropping the rollers.

My L92 has a Smith Brothers bronze trunnion kit, Just for piece of mind.

+1

You just missed the PP rebate sale. Napa had it for $4.99/qt but with a $23/qt rebate, making it only $2.99/qt

Walmart has PP Euro L, PP Euro 0w40, and you can order PUP online site-to-store.

Why on earth would you delete the oil cooler?

My Montero sheared PUP 10W30 and I had high Fe & Al wear. For whatever that is worth. Every engine/driver is different. Rotella T6 is in my stock/list.

Respectfully,

Pajero!

my oil took forever to get hot.in 08 it was a stand alone cooler in 09 they went to radiator cooled oil cooler.

I agree, that LS7 will love having a dexos2 oil, which means the HTHS is 3.5 or higher.

The Platinum Euro L 5W30 is indeed a stout (HTHS) oil but, with low SAPS/TBN, not one I would consider for extended OCIs. See SubieRubyRoo's VOA below...

Wonder if Wal-Mart is thinning it out … I got it for $14/jug …

I just ordered some Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-30. should I do a rinse to remove all the redline?

Corvette owners really don't do extended OCIs, most of us follow the oil life monitor which usually will count down to zero by about 7 or 8k at the most (and those that drive harder will see it hit zero much sooner) And those that don't follow the OLM go the other way and change the oil in the 3-5k range.
