That's the good stuff mate !!
It's SN/CF, A3/B4. BMW LL-01, MB 229.5, VW 502/505 and Porsche A40. A full house of Euro OEM specs.

You could put it in a boutique bottle and double it's price.

HTHS > 3.5 cP
Noack < 10 %
TBN > 10
And healthy ZDDP at about ~ 1100 ppm Zn

This is the standard Canadian version of Castrol Edge 0w-40, probably made in Germany on the bottle, that's what mine say. It goes on sale regularly.

That's a stout oil, very nice.
Here in Spain it's crazy expensive though, 46,90 Eur for a 5L jug, ouch.

0w40 is too thin.

Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 is comparable, only £23 delivered in the UK,or for around £31 delivered to most parts of Europe. You can also get Shell Helix Ultra HX8 in 5w30 and 5W40 From Eurocarparts.

I was always wondering what is the difference between HX8 & Ultra? Grp. III vs GTL?

Fischer Tropsch base oil is listed in the MSDS for HX8,so they may be using the same GTL base for both HX8 and Ultra, just marketing the HX8 towards a different sector with the ECT tec.

It's on sale right now at Canadian Tire in fact, for $32.xx per 5L jug.

Would be interesting to know, HX8 is kind of rare, don't see it much in stores.

Ultra is indeed an outstanding oil given its price, i've had a mad idea of using it in my Escort by mixing some SHU 5W-40 with some Rimula R4X 15W-40 HDEO to get higher Zddp.

Purchase locally made goods and support your country where and when you can.

The requirements for specifications claimed for the motor oil are standard world wide in order to make the claim for whatever specification. e.g. ACEA A3 made in USA etc is required to meet the same specs for ACEA A3 made in Germany.

So "made here ör made there" is it a perspective of the ????.
