Hi I was at a GM Dealer and I was talking to the parts person and he told me that their new ACDelco 0w20 Dexos 1 Gen 2 is a full synthetic oil now. I have been looking for specs on the oil and I can't seem to find much. He also mentioned that its made by Exon Mobil. It was only $6 Canadian per litre so the price is good I am just wondering how good it really is

Probably depends on when … others have had the contract …

It is D1G2. What additional info do you think you'll glean from the specs?

I would like to know if its a good as the Toyota TGMO 0W20 as that is the best oil at the best price that I am aware of.

And in looking at the UOA in the link above I don't see a Cst at 40c so its not possible to determine the VI or am I wrong ?

If I’m not mistaken, both the AC Delco and the TGMO are both made by ExxonMobil. It doesn’t matter which one you pick and that will go for any brand of oil.

Probably is dexos1 Gen2, since Mg is so high and calcium below 2,000 ppm. I like the 149 ppm moly, which if this is Mobil oil, that's tri-nuclear moly, very effective. 149 ppm moly is twice the level seen in most oils.

I'd say AC-Delco dexos1 Gen2 oil is better, by performance test specs, compared to TGMO 0w20, which is SN GF-5-only. We don't know if TGMO would pass all the dexos1 tests. As for your statement "TGMO is the best oil at it's price", no, not likely, as Mobil1 Annual Protection 0w20 is $8/quart at walmart (5-quart jugs), M1 EP is $6/quart, while TGMO is $8-$10/quart depending on where you buy it. You can get all-PAO Ravenol DFE 0w20 for around $10/quart, so buy that oil as a better one; its not much more & has a 7.6% NOACK. http://www.ravenolamerica.com/motor-oil/0w-20-motor-oil-ravenol-dfe/

Right, got to have the KV40 & KV100 to compute VI. TGMO has a 227 VI, quite high indeed. TGMO obviously has a higher treat rate of VII chemicals, & its built from thinner base oil as evidenced by its low Cold Cranking Viscosity. http://pqiadata.org/Toyota_0W20.html ... Therefore I think TGMO is better in very cold weather, but might get permanent shear and end up with a low viscosity after a few thousand miles.

Nothing special about ACDelco, it's worse than TGMO in every aspect. You get what you pay for.

The PQIA tested version you cite is not the current dexos1 Gen2 product. The d1g2 license number is D10066GE014.

The one you posted is dexos1 only. Tap the image showing label on back of the bottle to enlarge. It shows license number GB1f1221085 (dexos1)
