Do you Bluetooth your phone and car?

Most of the time I use Bluetooth to stream music. It's also nice when it reads out my text messages.

Yes, both of "my" vehicles have it. And I do use it. Well, I talk on my cell like twice a month, so once a month I actually talk in the car. Half the time I'm mad about it as BT will have magically turned off in my phone and I have to take a hands-full call.

I tried to get into podcasts but I just can't listen while driving. Even on a country drive, I have problems concentrating.

The best thing I ever did to my car was Bluetooth and SiriusXM

Stream Spotify/Google Play music while Maps is navigating me to my destination, and if someone calls it pauses and I can answer/hang up without my hands leaving the wheel

Ok Google is my voice command, it plays music and calls people

It's the slickest '06 when it comes to modern car tech I think you'll see

I have not yet reached the age/lack of cognitive function as to where this is all distracting

...gonna enjoy it while I can

Yes. Use for music and need to for work when I use rental cars. Also helps with my waze app when traveling

Hands free voice controlled calling in a car is no more distracting than talking to a passenger.

Not true...

Passengers also have a view of the road and an understanding to be quiet when parking and in traffic.

Person on the other end of the phone doesn't and often tries to ramp up the conversation when you go quiet because you need to.

Assuming all passengers behave the same. A lot of factors in play here.

I have never felt distracted by a "normal" conversation in a car with hands-free phone capabilities.

But I also don't pick up a call in situations that require my full attention while driving such as merging to highways, passing, etc.
Just like I wouldn't chatter away to a passenger in that situation either. I'm good at ignoring people when needed.

Which is why I keep chit chat with passengers to a minimum when I drive.

I can't multitask to save my life, and I find having to carry on a conversation distracts me from driving.

My wife's car can and shw does. However I rarely drive her car so mine phone isn't.

Same for me.

I don't have bluetooth in my truck.

I do use my bluetooth headseat on my motorcycle helmet to listen to music.
Nobody ever calls me.

My favorite part is pulling into the drive in the Tahoe and the vehicle silently joins my wife’s phone call with a friend …
(Always purely gossip anyway) …

I turned the Bluetooth off on my phone just so it will not connect to my truck. Nothing annoyed me about it more than the radio shutting off for calls I ignore.

Of course, but only for phone calls.

My Sonata's Bluetooth is a little grainy when playing music, so I have a USB cale for when I play music.

The Camry and Jeep have basic Pioneer radios in them, no fanciness.

Yes, I installed aftermarket stereos in my Bronco and my CR-V with Bluetooth. My Ranger and Accord also have aftermarket stereos but no Bluetooth. I wish I had installed ones with Bluetooth, and I'm seriously considering upgrading them again so I have Bluetooth in every vehicle. It's become a must-have feature.

Great OP. I can't tell you how many idiots I see running around in newer BMW's, Mercedes, etc. holding their phone in their hand while they're driving. People can make Facebook sing, but can't take 20 seconds to sync a phone. I'll never understand.

I wish I had a nickel for every time I paired a phone when I worked as a product specialist at BMW...
