Just last week I blew an engine because I failed to replace a dipstick that had become shorter over time. I could no longer tell how much oil I had in the engine. Forwarding the below want-ad for a friend who wants to avoid my unfortunate learning experience.

LOL very funny. I swear that is how some people think. Short dipsticks and sagging oil pans are the ruination of a lot of engines.

.

To avoid this common problem, it' s good practice to measure your dip stick for proper length after checking your oil.

I thought oil pans age and because of it they need some plastic surgery, during the process dip stick is taken care of as well. Isn't it?

A dipstick becoming shorter would cause you to overfill the crankcase.

A problem with older Hondas was the dipstick going lower because the stop disc slipping up the shaft causing the normal level to be too low.

Or *Mobile 1*

Be environment conscious and use Mobile 2 (Mobile 1 from a friend or from the back of autoparts store: just think of all richness of the add-on packs)

Hooray!

Stealth vigorous partial oil change!

I wonder if it's going to blow the new DI fuel dilution out of the water...

My wife did not put oil in her car because it was “ADD1QT”, this is the abbreviation for adequate.

Way up in a small town I offered to check the oil in a lady's LOUDLY clattering gas engine.

I pulled the dipstick and it broke off level with the top of the tube. The tube was solid with rust as well as the dipstick.

I said clearly, "This engine has been severely neglected. The clattering you hear is not good. If you have no mechanic to perform an oil change, ask your friends for the name of one."

Then I swore to myself NEVER to make such an offer again. It could've gone real "small town stupid".
