I don't know about the best musically, but the most fun I've had were at the following:

1980s -- Stray Cats at the Kiel Opera House in STL

1990s -- Smithereens at a club called "The Post Office" in Augusta, GA

2017 -- Here Come the Mummies at The Blue Note in Columbia, MO

All smaller venues, a more intimate and fun show.

Edited to add:

2002 -- Blue Man Group -- Las Vegas

Been to Woodstock 94, a bunch of Lollapaloozas, STP, Chili Peepers, Nine Inch Nails, Boston, Rolling Stones, Steve Miller, George Therogood. I can't remember everyone. Going to see Hall and Oats this Summer.

Best had to be Woodstock 94. It was an experience.

My Favorite?

.38 Special at a local Casino. Met Donnie Barnes. Great guy and they sounded awesome!! I love their stuff and it was in a small venue so you were real close to them.

3-way tie:
1997 Metallica put on a free concert in the parking lot of what was then called the CoreStates Center in Philadelphia. Not so much musically but the atmosphere was great. 50,000 or so in the crowd in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, full version of Master of Puppets, etc. It was great.

Jerry Cantrell at the Electric Factory in Philly 1998. Alice in Chains wasn't touring at the time due and Jerry had put out a very good solo album. He played a mix of Alice in Chains and stuff from his album. My brother and I made our way up right by the stage, it was awesome.

2008 Iron Maiden in Maryland. For some reason I didn't get into Maiden until I was in my late 20s and this was the first time I saw them live. Their tours alternate between being mostly 80's/nostalgia stuff and lost of post 2000 stuff. This was one of the 80's tours and was awesome. I saw them again last year and they are remarkable for a bunch of guys pushing 60.

The best was one I didn't expect to be - we got given a couple of tickets to Cleo Laine...and we were front row, dead centre. Just stunning watching this then elderly lady sing so perfectly, and the highlight was the duet with her husband John Dankworth on alto sax...she was just singing notes, sparing with his sax. total class.

A month later, same venue and a concert we were wanting to be great, Manhattern Transfer. We were right at the back of the top of the theatre, they were dots on stage and the sound was terrible.

This is the correct answer!!! Tat was their best tour and when they finally "clicked" as Rush. A special moment in time for sure.

Iron Maiden has always put on one [censored] of a show, especially the post Ripper years. The big mechanical Eddie is the best stage prop on the planet. And yes, those guys still shred despite their mileage!

I saw Nazareth in '77 and their opener was Edgar Winter...both were fantastic!

Did anyone here go to the Beatles final concert on Aug 29, 1966 at Candlestick Park? That would make you famous...

This is an example of those concerts that way more people claim to have attended than the venue would actually hold.
