Old scanned photos of when I bought a new ZX-11 in 1990 when the bike first came out. Geared up for the ride home 300 miles back home from the dealer. Still remember that bike, quite the machine in 1990. Ended up wrecking it a couple years later on a fire road on Mt St Helens. Only road bike I ever crashed. Dislocated collar bone only, so got lucky.

What were you riding in the "good old days"? Post up some photos and memories.

those were gnarly. The cr480 with a sticky throttle was always a fun ride lol

LOL, it seemed so big back in 1975:

I had an 84 yamaha IT200. Not the fastest beast, but never lost a drag race to any 125mx bike, but no where near a 250mx bike in the early 90's. Good all round bike though, low 1st for picking your way on a washed out trail, and a high 6th for the road, and it just ran for years without any major work at all.

I rode a CR500 in a dirt field and the huge knobby rear tire would throw a rooster tail about 10 ft high and 20 ft long. Torque galore.

Had a YZ80 in 1990...for a handful of months.
Rode my Bro's RG250 a few times (no road licence).

That's been it for motorcycles.

1990 ? I'd been riding for 20 years by then, and not many photos. In 1990 I had more running bikes before or since. A PW50, a C50 stepthrough, Guzzi Stornello, '81 XR200, KT250, TS400, '71 XS1, GT750. There were more that came and went...people just used to give me bikes they didn't want.

I turned the TS400 into a TM400 hybrid and raced it on our rough dirttrack at Waiheke Island. Here I am, out front as usual.

This is our dirttrack, not an oval so you needed brakes. Not an aerial photo, this is taken from the top of a hill...and we used to ride our dirt bikes to the top.

I had the XS1 for 15 years, and was one of only 5 bikes I bought back to the mainland.

So that's 1990 or thereabouts.

That orange lens on your helmet is mega-sweet. Someone should re-pop it as "retro". (Yeah I'm sure you can buy orange for a more modern lid but the whole package makes it.)

Out of ALL the bikes I had...

the only one out of 53 owned that I want back more than ever is my 1991 Husqvarna WXE 610

(The "E" is the enduro... same as "X" but with a headlight & tailight)

I was on a Suzuki 600 Katana when the ZX-11 came out. Went to the dealer for a test ride, they refused. I was ready to buy that day, but wouldn't unless I could take it out and be sure it was a fit for an upcoming trip.
I got a call a couple weeks later where they offered the the test ride. I'm sure they sold it, just not to me, I was already on the big Kat by that time and preparing for a BlueRidge trip.

I had the earlier 510, 1988. So, not quite a 1990 model.

Cool old bikes being posted up, always fun looking back and seeing how bikes have changed over the years.

I still have a 1976 Yamaha RD400. Poor thing hasn't been ran forever. I need to get that beast going someday - wouldn't take a lot of work. I'll see if I can find an old scanned photo when I get on my desktop computer.
