303 Protectant for Headlights?

I've used 303 on my dash/interior trim for 15+ years. But I'd never thought about applying it to my headlights until a guy at work mentioned it. Does anyone do it? Mine are pretty hazy and I use some Tutle Wax stuff and a cloth every few months to clean them up. It looks good for a while, but slowly fades even though the stuff I use claims to have a sealant or something in it. I'm planning to do it again and then apply 303 afterward. I'm just curious if anyone has had success with this. Thanks!

I use spray wax on mine. Is there any chance an armor all type protectant like 303 would yellow or dry rot them over time?

Honestly, I wouldn't put 303 in the "Armor All type" category. I've also used spray wax without much success.

303 is a good product, for the types of materials it is made to protect.. but I don't count headlight lenses among them. If you want to protect your lenses, try applying something more durable, like a paint sealant. I use the same stuff I apply to my car's paint when I "wax" it.. Some good options are Collinite, Finish Kare FK1000P, Meguiar's Ultimate, and yeah.. even NuFinish I guess.

+1 ... Turtle Wax ICE wax spray .

^^ Nice looking car!! I use Powerlock on my headlights, before that Rejex or Collinite 845 or 476s. After 10 years our Liberty headlight lenses still look like new.

Thanks,

I've been using this a few times a year since I bought the Mazda3 in 2012. It's rarely parked outside so I guess I can't gauge its protective qualities.

Good stuff...wife's 5-year old car still has clear headlights.

Meguiar's actually has a more current product that adds a good UV protection layer that lasts about as long as a wax/sealant job (4-6 months).

Meguiar's headlight protection

I was going to post the same thing but could not find a link. I have a bottle that is at least 3 years old. I can no longer find this product in stores or online. A Meguiar's forum thread said it may have been discontinued. There is now a spray available called Meguiar's Headlight Coating that may supersede it.

Every time I see one of these headlight lens yellowing threads I wonder why folks don't simply go to a clear bra shop and have them covered with 3M clear bra or equivalent? Either have it done when the car is new, or have it done immediately after doing the restoration/polishing process. Is there a reason more folks aren't doing this? It has worked well for me. I had it done as part of a package but can't imagine it costing more than say $40 USD for the headlights alone.
