Update

Saw some 5 quart jugs of Valvoline Advanced Synthetic 5W-30 at Walmart for $21.97 so decided to try it out. Don't think there's any Valvoline rebate going on (I'll have to look), but the price seems pretty good anyway.

My guess is 50% less measured wear in some kind of standard wear testing procedure when compared to their non-synthetic.

Real useful thread this was. NOT. At least Amsoil gives us the info that's lacking from the majors. Yes haters, we all know they're just blenders/formulaters but they're great at what they do. All American company too,more than I can say for a couple of the bigger players.
