Have a new pool skimmer the old one was rusting and leaking. At the store they recommended RTVing the gaskets. But after removing the old one I'm not sure RTVing the new gasket to the pool liner is a good idea. I'm fortunate the old one was not. But maybe that's why it was leaking. Seem to be coming from the back and I plan to Rtv the back for convenience. Any advice?

I had an 18 foot round pool professionally installed. I thought I would wind up divorced if my wife and I tried it. The professional installers used a generous amount of silicone on both sides of the skimmer. No leaks after 2 years :)

The bottom two pictures are after sanding and Corroseal. It's filling now we will see.
