It has to be when the "racing" is all single file.

I liked when Button tried a pass last year when Alonso was in the 500. It ended up as a crash but atleast he tried. Stick your nose in and force the guy ahead to decide either to leave space or crash out. Then you could see some actual racing if more drivers did that.
That said, as an autocrosser, having one race basically decided by an autocross with F1 cars is kind of neat.

Monaco is what it is. For fans who want to try and enjoy it, we look to what each race is known to deliver. Monaco produces different racing than Monza, etc.

Agreed. Surely we'll see quali. times dip into the 1:11's but will we see someone crack 1:10.999? And how many laps will they last in the race? Monaco is pretty easy on tires but these are the softest compound ever offered.

Which frankly for him is a mediocre season.

Monaco is more of an "event", than it is a race. A lot of parties, showing off, and hob knobbing. Most of the "fans" end up watching the thing with a hangover from the night before.

You're right but are acting like we've never seen Monaco before, I think everyone responding to this thread knows what the deal is. Again, it is what it is and we have to take whatever enjoyment or action there is, even if it's not ideal.

Maybe they should make it a rule that if you crash out while trying to make a pass, you have to go to a party on one of the yachts moored in the harbor. Kimi really made a lot of personality points with the fans when he did that.

Good point. He was on a 6-race losing streak, and people were beginning to think he was all washed up.

I miss seeing Senna charge around those narrow unforgiving streets. One year he was so far ahead he was asked to back off a bit and take it easy. That disrupted his focus and he crashed all by himself. He walked off the circuit and went to his apartment that was just a block away. No one from the media has the brass to put a mike in his face on his exit and ask for a comment. Some drivers are spectacular every now and then. Senna was spectacular on every lap.

Memorial Day (Sunday) Priorities:

1. Attend the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500. (Go Eddie!)
2. Tape Monaco GP for viewing next week.
3. Watch the delayed broadcast of the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500.

Any other events are ignored.

Monday: Play golf.
