I use Kendall 5w30 on my mom's 2.0 eb with no issues. I would personally not use 5w20 on that engine

DO NOT use water oils in these turbocharged engines! They shear and can't take the heat. MIN 5W30 and if the climate is hot or the vehicle is worked hard I wouldn't be afraid to step up to a Xw40

Water oils???

But if the engine calls for 5-30 then use a quality synthetic 5-30.

I believe Ford updated their spec to 5w30. You may have to verify this.

There ARE 'thicker' synthetic 5W-30s out there, but they most likely do NOT meet the 946-A specs.
