I am going to replace the spark plugs in my 2013 Mini Cooper S

I was going to buy the NGK 95770 Iridium plugs at $13.99 ea. and I also saw Champion 9409 Iridium plugs for $6.69 ea..............wow, what is the difference ?, are the NGK plugs worth twice as much ??
I also saw a Champion 9412 Iridium for $7.99 ea.

Also, I want to make sure that I have the correct plugs.

I wouldn't buy them on ebay as there have reports of counterfeit spark plugs of all things. Prob stick to Rock or Amazon as a direct seller. Denso and NGK can be used in Toyotas per the owner's manual. So maybe check your manual to see if there's another alternative. I'd prob skip on the Champions.

For iridium i would go with denso, ngk if i couldnt find denso. Champion might be ok for copper.

I have no problems with Champion Iridiums other than they are pretty hard to find for sale anywhere.

I wouldn't change the plugs until they are NEEDED...
like really needed...
by then you should have the $$$ saved up for the NGK's

I don't believe they're the OEM-style iridiums like NGK or Denso that are supposed to last much longer. Those have a platinum "puck" fused to the ground electrode. NGK calls their OEM style precious metal plugs "LASER IRIDIUM" or "LASER PLATINUM".

Denso calls their aftermarket plugs "IRIDIUM POWER". I believe their OEM version (with the platinum) is "IRIDIUM PLUS".

However, there are a lot of vehicle manufacturers that only specify NGK, although Denso probably has an OEM-style equivalent. Some just buy from NGK or Denso but relabel them and only specify their own part number, like GM.

I have had great luck with Champion but the mechanics on our local automotive radio show say NGK are the best plugs, and you are always in the best shape when you use the exact plug recommended by the OEM.
TOTO.

I never had a problem w champion plugs, even the cheap $1.49 coppers work fine. If the plugs are easily accessible then go w the champs. If they are a pain to replace, go w OEM

I have never had an issue with Champion plugs. The NEW Bosch plugs are also good. Just make sure its not a old stock version.

RockAuto has the DENSO 5356 Iridium Power for $5.74 plus shipping.

How many miles are on yours? They should be good for 60-100k.

Which NEW Bosch plugs are you spending of?? The point to point Iridium plugs??

The Bosch Platinum plugs have done very good in my lady's Camry.

Funny how vehicles are...

I have NEVER had Bosch Platinums (with the flush center electrode) work well in any engine, ever.

I used to take my car to a Japanese car specialist. When I asked why Denso (even for cars where the manufacturer spec’ed NGK-only) they said the tried Bosch before. The conventional resistor plugs were fine, but the platinums with the buried electrode would typically melt away. They also weren’t long life with only a platinum center electrode.

Toyota specs Denso because Nippondenso was spun off from Toyota. Not sure why Honda does the same.

There’s a reason why even many German carmakers don’t use Bosch plugs.

This is a 98 Camry. Plugs have 50k miles on them and that car runs very good with them.

In my Nissan I have the DENSO long life iridium plugs. 123k miles on them and they are doing good thus far..

I've not had much luck with Bosch plugs in any of my BMW's- for whatever reason NGK worked best, the car felt smoother. Other forums report the same, NGK is the one to go for in a BMW, so by extension Mini (BMW) should be similar. The factory Mini plugs are Beru platinum, #12122293697. They're right around the $10 mark from FCP.

I'll probably get flamed, but the only thing I'd put a champion plug in is a mower, and I'd only do that if they didn't have an NGK plug for it. I try and make it a point to use NGK in everything I own.
