That's kind of backwards...

Long drives is what will clean that engine up!

ANY brand (Super Tech, Delo, Mobile, Valvoline, Rotella, ect) HDEO/Diesel rated oil that cost anywhere from $12 to $20 for a 4 quart jug that also carries the API SM or SN required by your motor would be perfect for what you want.

Actually I am surprised I was the first to mention this, there is no better oil for what you want, not only that, its great oil!

So, I am putting my flame suit on here.... be gentle.

What about a couple of ounces of B12 in the crankcase. Idle for about 10 minutes, then drain.

I thought I read once, that 1 oz per quart of oil might do something...

What does it say on the container?

Conventional HDEO’s like Delvac have a NOACK >/= T6 and are very economical …

There isn't much if any difference in the major brands of oils.

I've run PP 5W-30 or Mobil-1 5w-30 in my 2008 Tacoma with the 3.4. I bought it new and with 87,000+ miles on it, under the valve covers, no varnish and no sludge. Board members and Pennzoil tout the cleaning ability of Pennzoil Synthetic Oils. Try a few changes with Pennzoil.

And here we go again "cleaning up" and engine that doesn't have a confirmed problem. The OP has been asked about it but hasn't answered.

Ok, from experience I know Synthetics do and excellent job of cleaning engines. In 90s bought a 79 Jeep with sludged 258 I6 engine. Installed a Oberg racing filter with removable cleanable mesh filter(why because) that lit a light on Dash when Bypass opened. Put Mobil 1 5W30 in, first day bypass light came on. Cleaned filter, Second day filter light comes on, clean filter. 4th day light comes on, clean filter etc. After that time to bypass filter light coming on doubled. Took a month and half before bypass light stopped coming on. Changed oil with more Mobile 1. Light never came on again. After taking off valve cover to check valve lash, it was amazing how clean the engine was, still varnish but nothing like the caked on stuff before. It takes time but synthetic oil works

Im sure liking the new Rotella T6 5w30 Multi Car oil in my Toyota’s. Strong enough for a diesel and the right weight for the 3.4. I’ve run Rotella in a number of vehicles and everything stays clean

I have a lot of experience with this engine and it's not picky. Run a quality name brand synthetic at regular 5k intervals and it'll do great, there's no need to shorten the interval any. She's real easy on oil being a non-interface timing belt design, hardly shears the oil out of grade. Mine seems to like Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum or Ultra best of all the types I've tried.

You don't have a 3.4, it hasn't been in production since 2004, either a 2.7 four cylinder or 4.0 V6 is what your rig has. Just clarifying! wink

+1 to this. Very few engines these days actually have visual sludge in them.

OP is asked to confirm if he does have sludge in the engine, and he ignores the question and disappears.

Priceless!
