Saw is Echo CS-400; about 3 or 4 years old.

Between the motor part of the saw moving back to the trigger handle, there is a gap in the assembly; I looked in there and there seems to be a plastic assembly hanging on the end of an electrical wire or tube. The saw has never been disassembled or worked on; does anyone have a clue what it is? I don't have any way of taking a picture. It looks like a detached electrical plug (like on a car sensor) but doesn't appear electrical.

Saw runs perfectly.

My best guess it is a vent to allow air into the fuel tank while shielding it from dust; that is why it is buried in the chassis of the saw.

Thanks.

Carbed engines on motorcycles typically have extra plugs for a sensor or switch that isn't used in all regions for emission reasons, etc. might be the same for saws sold all over the world?
