I hated to read of Harry Anderson's passing. Night Court made its debut in 1984- two years before I became a judge at the age of 29. It wasn't long before I realized that the show was a stunningly accurate depiction of courts of limited jurisdiction- AKA "The Trenches"-just like the one I practiced in. At one point or another I dealt with the same type of characters Judge Stone worked with- a womanizing prosecutor, a cynical chain-smoking bailiff, a couple of idealistic public defenders and a steady stream of bizarre and/or hilarious defendants, plaintiffs, and prosecuting witnesses.
Godspeed, Harry...

In 1983 I was walking around the children's gaming area at the Circus Circus Hotel/Casino in Reno, NV. I saw Harry Anderson, who was walking around with two other people, and asked for his autograph. Harry was very cordial and wanted to give me his autograph but both he and I did not have a pen. We spoke for about 30 seconds and he had to leave. He truly left a great, down to earth, mark on me.

I really thought he was already dead.

Night Court was one of my favorite shows in the 80's, mostly because of Markie Post..

RIP, Mr. Anderson

That's pretty sad, loved Night Court, not to mention his appearances on Cheers.

Thanks for that little window into your experience. Night Court was an establishment in my house during the 80s too. RIP Harry.

Night Court was a great show and Harry was an outstanding performer in his role. Sad to hear that he has passed...

Not many people remember Ellen Foley appearing on Night Court for a year before Markie Post was hired...she was the female singer on Meatloaf's "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" and also the girlfriend of Mick Jones of The Clash, who basically ruined her solo album "Spirit Of St Louis" through his efforts to stick it to her label. The huge Clash hit "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" is about the difficulties of Jones and Foley in getting along as a couple.
I honestly like Foley more than Post, although there was certainly nothing wrong with Markie.

Yep, he is one rough looking character.

I certainly can't endorse Keef's life choices, but he is a crazy like a fox type...a friend of mine is a guitarist and told me that the stuff Richards has come up with as a guitar player is just mind boggling, unique tunings and ways of playing chords. I can't really understand because I am not musical at all...my friend spends a fair amount of his time studying Richards' guitar mojo. Keef has also been able to milk a very difficult relationship with the prime jag Mick Jagger into hundreds of millions of dollars!

I forgot that show, I then recalled it when I read the news last night on my Microsoft phone.
Night Court and Harry have had No impact on my life whatsoever; other than being just a time waster like most TV.
Sorry for the harsh rant.

65 is pretty young to go. Maybe I should get that Dodge Challenger 392 6 speed after all.

Condolences to his Family.
