Got a hot tip this morning on Havoline 5W-20 HM Blend $39.02 for a 5 QT. Jug 3 pack.
But by the time I ordered and came back to post the URL they had raised the price to $45.90.
Is this the new Amazon bait and switch?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M1Y3AM8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The $45.90 does not beat the Walmart Rollback price you can get on line.

Over the years AMZN has played games or screwed up pricing a few times, with ads that were too good to be true. More than once a few of us placed orders and ended up getting free oil because they shipped the wrong amount of oil. When we called to complain we were issued a full refund and told to keep the product. I wonder if they've smartened up and changed that policy or proof read their ads better.

I mean, it's a decent deal even at $45 shipped. That's $3 a quart delivered to your door.

2014 Mazda 3 Hatch 2.0L & 6spd - Idemitsu 0w20 Synthetic @ $0.75 a quart. (thanks Advance Auto Parts for the awesome deal)

If you choose another seller, the price drops to $43.46. $14.48 each jug.

I had some points on a credit card, so my total dropped to $28.00.

Havoline has a mail in rebate for $5 for each 5 qt jug, and this product qualifies.

So take another 15 dollars off that.

So my net cost is around $13 for 15 quarts of semi syn oil.

Not bad!

Amazon can change the price on an item 15 times a DAY.

I bought an item last week for $13. Three days later, I looked and they had dropped the price to $10, a $3 savings.

I emailed them and asked them to refund me the difference since they lowered the price, which they have always done. They informed me that they no longer refund money on items when they lower the price, and I was out of luck. I told them that in fact THEY were out of luck, because the item had free returns. So I bought the item again at $10, and using their postage and their box, returned the $13 item. It would have been much easier and cheaper on their part to just refund me the $3. Instead they paid for an extra box and shipping to and from my house for the return. Stupid policy on their part that cost them money.

New definition of "bait and switch" ? Could be many different reasons that this happened, all legit.

That is stupid on their behalf though I do wonder if you had told the rep you would return it if they would have then refunded you the difference.

Otherwise, in my experience, they only do free return shipping when the reason for the return is certain ones. For example, if the item is defective or doesn't work, they pay for the shipping or if the item doesn't work as advertised/listed, they'll pay for shipping.

Many of their clothing items are labeled as "free returns". This is so people can return items hassle free (and at no cost to them) if they don't fit.

I DID tell the rep that I would take advantage of the free returns and just return the $13 item and buy it again at $10. OR, if he had any sense at all, he could just refund me the $3 and call it good. He didn't budge, and just stuck to the policy line. So I bought the item again at $10 and returned the $13 item, using their prepayed mailing label, and their box, at no cost to myself. Idiots.

They lost every bit of profit and actually lost money on that "sale". And ticked off a long time customer with 120 plus orders a year.

Amazon has turned into the Wal-Mart of the internet-they've become so big that they don't care who they hack off, they figure there's more suckers to rip off.

Has anyone been notified yet by Amazon that their 5W-20 blend has shipped? If it did how much did you pay? I have no notification of shipment yet! The order just says Wednesday delivery just like it did when I bought it no updates.

Was it worth your time and the hassle for just $3 ???
