No wonder synthetic oil REALLY doen't take varnish off.....but AutoRx does? (not really IMHO)

Does AutoRx touch Lacquer?

Quality engine oils attempt to prevent it via their detergents and dispersant components.

As stated earlier, only certain solvents can remove varnish, and that usually involves mechanical scrubbing WITH the solvent.

[BTW, lacquer is water soluble and varnish is only acetone soluble

So, does that mean you can inject water into the intake of a diesel to clean piston tops and rings?
Also that Berrymens B 12 would be good for cleaning varnish?

Thanks MolaKule and all the usual suspects. I'm smarter now

Carbon is what exists on piston tops and in rings.

Berryman's might take it off but I do know LCD, Inc's LC20 will remove both carbon and varnish. Varnish will still have to scrubbed off surfaces.
