IN BRIEF
Building massive infrastructure for solar and wind energy, and introducing electric vehicles, will help citizens in developing countries live the lifestyles they desire without the need to burn dirty fossil fuels. But though these technologies have existed for decades, there’s no plan to make sure they remain green to the end. Experts forecast hundreds of thousands of tons of old wind turbine blades, batteries, and solar modules will need to be disposed of or recycled in the next decade—and millions of tons by 2050. Read on about the technologies evolving around the world to handle this unusual waste stream.

Note that the source, and the document are apolitical.

Presentation of issues and facts, and some future solutions.

I would suggest the document is less than apolitical...quote...

Zero acknowledgement of the challenges of large land/sea foot print, unreliable, relatively expensive, not on-demand "green " energy vs. reliable, relatively inexpensive, on-demand, compact "dirty" nat gas energy solutions such as these.

Saw this touched-on in my twitter feed last night. We will have plenty of this to deal with in Ontario quite soon as the early GEA projects reach EOL.

You will be the neighborhood cook-out hero :p

P.S. My BIL used to carry those on a semi/truck. Yup, they're BIG....

where's THAT in the article ? Did a search on that inside my link and got zero matches.

Poor Energy ROI straight to landfill...not sensible

Where's all the lithium recycling ?

Small scale 'distributed' vertical axis pole-top turbines would be pretty cool. Even medium to large scale vertical axis turbines would be cool. That might take care of the torturous infrasonic acoustics that plague large axial prop style turbines
