At Target Mobil Super Synthetic is $4.54 a qt. Comes out to about $22.50 for 5 qts. Not super duper great obviously but pretty ok for a name brand oil. Dexos gen 2 approved as well obviously. Beats O Reilly's sale for it being $25.95 for 5 qts. And at my World Championship Target there was no sign on the shelves denoting the sale price. That place is awesome smile

And if you decide to go that route, there is a $10 rebate for those who are willing to play that game-- https://mobiloil.com/en/promotion/mobil-promotions

So if you do pay $22.50 to Target for 5 quarts of MSS, you can get the MIR and end up paying only $12.50.

bbhero, you gave me my chuckle for the day with the last 2 sentences of your post!

Thanks!

What's the difference between the Mobil Super Synthetic and the regular Mobil 1 full synthetic? Mobil has so many oil lines it's hard to determine what if much difference between some of them.

Well Zee0six Mobil Super Synthetic is the group 3 oil made as their lower to mid tier oil offering. The MSS meets Dexos gen 2 and obviously API SN ILSAC GF-5. This oil is a "budget" synthetic oil. Their Mobil 1 now is the "mid" tier oil which has a likely mix of a fair amount of group 3 and a bit of group 4 and maybe a bit of group 5 oils as well. Mobil 1 obviously meets all the see exact specs as MSS but it also meets HTO-06. Which some say it is an old spec. Which it is. However it is still a good spec because it tested used oil for turbo applications. Which is a good aspect given Dexos gen 2 tests new fresh oil. So with Mobil 1 you get a more robust oil that has passed both tests for new and used oil. Mobil Super Synthetic has a warranty of 7500 miles or your factory interval whichever is longer. I believe Mobil 1 is up to 10k miles on it's guarantee/warranty.

Mobil Super Synthetic is a solid oil that I like running in my Altima 3.5 VQ. At $22.50 for 5 qts it is a decent deal. My limit for 5 qts of oil is $30. This obviously is well less than that limit. I also got some Valvoline Advanced full synthetic for $22 from Wally World the other day as well. That is another decent deal as well.

At the price point of MSS, I question why it still exists in the line up at all. M1 and M1 AFE can frequently be found cheaper than MSS and in my area MSS is only sold in auto parts stores which further puts the kibosh on ever considering it.

Why would you do that when you can get Mobil 1 at Walmart right now for $22.88 and still get the Mobil rebate of $10 a Jug? Having said that I'd probably buy Mobil Super Synthetic at say $17 a Jug.

I had the most consumption EVER, using Mobil Super Synthetic. Most engine noise also. Actually both of our vehicles.

I'll never buy it again, or use it-if given me for free. Engines in comment are Colorado 3.5 and Malibu 2.4
Both were around 80-90K in odometer miles. So it's been around 14 months since last used and we generally travel 50% highway /50% city

While I agree there are too many Mobil oil tier offerings. Though Mobil Super Synthetic at O Reilly's for $28.99 is a decent deal. Wix filter for my car is $9. If the oil is $20 then it is a decent price. Is that great, obviously not. But it is a decent deal. $20 for a oil that is a good name brand that meets Dexos gen 2 then it is. Like Quaker State ultimate durability. Which is $20 as well.

I do go to Wally world at times. But only very late at night when there are not a ton of people. Also there are days where my legs aren't up for walking all over a monsterous store. At least Target is not a very, very, long walk back to the oil section like Wally World is. That can matter to some people in the world. This may not be 5 or 20 (aka unbelievable deal) cents a qt oil, or $2 a qt oil ( very good deal), or $3.29 a qt (good deal). This is just what I said it was. A decent deal. Not spectacular. Not like getting it for 20 cents a quart. But I think $4.54 is an ok deal. And some days when my legs are not working the best... A decent deal that keeps me from walking all over creation is a good thing.

Need to visit a WM that has a Tire & Lube Center & it's open-in and out, have them ring it on the way out the door. A lot less walking around with the Peopleofwalmart.com that way!

or in spring/summer/fall, park near the garden center, and go in through there. oil and auto stuff is always a short walk, rather than the entire store length.
