I didn't know Hankook was in the battery business. They are building a battery manufacturing plant in Tennessee.

...An automotive battery manufacturer owned by Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. will join the tire maker's U.S. subsidiary in Clarksville, Tenn. AtlasBX Co. Ltd. will build a manufacturing plant there and plans to produce 2.4 million batteries a year....AtlasBX was established in 1944, and was acquired by Hankook in 1977....

...AtlasBX produces batteries for passenger cars, light trucks, electric vehicles, commercial vehicles, boats and recreational vehicles. The company makes more than 15 million batteries a year and has more than 300 customers globally. It makes batteries under its own brands, as well as for brands such as ACDelco. AtlasBX provides original equipment batteries for General Motors and Renault-Nissan Alliance....

with the roll back of EPA regulations and a pending trade war, this is great new that a company has confidence in North America market.

Hankook has been investing in North America for over 25 years.

They even have a tire engineering and development center in the Akron area.

Lead is such a bad thing when is CAFE going to ban it from car batteries?
Let this be another California first!

Hyundai Kia is depending on JCI's Korean arm for batteries, Tennessee isn't far from their Alabama and Georgia plants. I think a bluk of that plant will be dedicated for the Hyundai group.

Trade war? O.K.

There have been recent posts about Wal-Mart batteries now being South Korean sourced.

This just makes the trip shorter.
