So, years ago I wasted....er...spent money on a K&N FIPK for my 1996 Mustang. Well, years and miles go by and the filter is pretty dang dirt and contaminated. Now, I could pick up their recharge kit and clean/oil it for about $13 which is fine. Except I'm still stuck with a poor air filter and oil blow by. Which, I guess, won't hurt much since its been fine for the last 50k miles. That said, I would like to replace with with a paper cone while retaining the FIPK intake which means a clamp on cone and not an OE replacement. I *believe* its a 6in ID filter.

Any suggestions?

I bought a vehicle with an intake and was in the same boat. The original setup is ideal and better but could not be found without big $$$. I found that you can get a Aem dryflow in about any size. I also bought the filter wrap for it also to help keep it dryer and the big bugs out of it. The dryflow is well made and seems to do well with the uoa reports here.
