STP Premium Air Filter

I picked up this air filter from AutoZone today. Had to drop off some used oil and found this. It was about 13 dollars so I know it was more than the new Fram Ultra air filters at Walmart. I'm going to run it in my Dakota. Looks well made but cannot figure if it has oiled media like the Fram Toughguard/Ultra air filters.

I think that if it were oiled, it would say on the packaging that is is reusable and if it needed periodic oiling along the lifespan with instructions to do so.

For $13, it's probably just a more premium A/F. Although, I did buy a FRAM AirHOG reusable A/F for $7 on a closeout once!

AFAIK the red media STP XL are oiled filters.

The one for my truck was, you could see the residue on the bag it was in.

Who made it, and where? The "2X greater dirt trapping capacity claim vs. standard" claim on the box resembles Fram's claim.

That's the same size my prior truck, a 2001 Ram 5.9L gas engine took.

The ones I've seen for FCA trucks are made in USA by Champion Laboratories.

This says on the filter that it was manufactured in the USA. Other than that I am unsure who it is manufacturerd by.

The media looks like the same one used for import applications, I see that color on the Korean-made filters I see for Nissans.
