Ever? Tied for 7th, with Kansas, for overall number of championships.

Sorry, but Villanova has a way to go.

Double digit wins over every team they played in the tournament was pretty impressive.

Talking about the tournament run itself. As noted, won every game by double digits, destroying both final four opponents.

None of the 6 or 7 regular players are seniors so it will be interesting to see if they want to be play another year.

UCLA back in the day was pretty dominant on the college BBall scene with Kareem (then known as Lew) leading the way. Bill Walton's crew was also pretty dominant.

Bridges is projected to be a lottery pick so he's gone. Brunson will probably be drafted as well and is graduating after 3 years. We'll have to see if Spellman or Divincenzo test the waters. Booth is graduating as well but has another year of eligibility.

17.7 point average margin of victory for the tournament is a record since the expansion to 64 teams in '85.

As dominant as they were, the Tournament back then was hardly as competitive as it is today. Back then I don't recall more than a half dozen teams having any chance of winning the whole thing. Today, you might have to include 20-30 teams in such a list. UConn won the Tourney 4 yrs ago and they came in ranked around 25th-30th nationally (a 7 seed). Kareem's and Walton's field only had 32 teams....one less game to play. It was about as competitive as the women's game is today. Much easier for a 1-2 seed to get knocked out early today than it was 45-50 years ago. And these days, a Loyola of Chicago can make a run taking out top seeds along the way...and that was nearly impossible in the old days.

As a MI fan I'm disappointed, but it isn't like MI had much of a chance against Villanova...they were clearly the best team in the NCAA this year...MI winning would've been a heck of an upset, but Villanova deserved it!

An to comment further on men's NCAA parity. In 2014 #7 seed UConn took out #2 seed Villanova in the 3rd round....after they barely got by St Joseph's in round 1. That's the NCAA's! And the final game that year was UConn vs. Kentucky, a 7 vs. 8 seed. I'd call that parity...and a different world than 1960's/70's. You can be the dominant team during regular season...and one slip up in the tourney and you're gone. Villanova did a great job this year.
