So my new Ram w/ the 6.7 Cummins came with Mopar Purple as the factory fill. How does this compare to Rotella ELC? Is it diesel specific?

Apparently it's been used in almost all new FCA Chrysler vehicles since 2013, doesn't appear to be compatible with anything else. I personally would run it 5 years, thoroughly flush it, use ELC or similar then. Sounds like another Fiat influenced cluster to me!
ELC has a lot in common with Dexcool, so it would be better in a Dex compatible system (or flush all the old out first). ELC usually has 2-EHA like Dexcool does, not sure what OAT the new Mopar purple uses, the MSDS states "proprietary inhibitors". There are some Jeep forums online where Mopar Orange (dyed G-05) got mixed with the purple in some of the early '13 Jeeps, sludge resulted.
While it's under warranty, I'll probably leave it. Now, if I delete it, I will definitely switch to ELC like my 7.3.
I'd certainly put a diesel specific coolant in it! These OEM's thinking they can run their automotive coolant across the board in everything just causes issues!

The "new" MOPAR 10 year, 150,000 mile coolant is an OAT coolant sans 2-EHA,nitrite, phosphate, etc.. It's material standard number is MS 12106. When you google the ms number, you come up with numerous products that state that they meet this standard. Several labels indicate that it is suitable for light duty diesel engines only while other labels state their aftermarket product covers both light and heavy duty use
. The aftermarket products recommend 5 year/150,000 mile changes vs. MOPAR'S 10 year recommendation. Just sharing information.

I can't seem to find Prestone specs (someone help me), but I believe they have the MS 12106 label, at least the Dex Cool type.
racin4ds is correct that G-05 didn't hold up well in Ford diesels.
Regarding the original question, Rotella ELC NF (nitrite free) says it is Dex Cool compatible, but I don't see the MOPAR spec listed. I would not use it under warranty (just how I am).

Biggest issue with the G-05 in the 6.0 PSD was neglecting it, causing the oil cooler to become a coolant filter & get plugged with silicate, cooking the EGR cooler. I put over 250K on an '03 E-350 with G-05-engine had a LOT of problems, but coolant wasn't one of them, because it was changed regularly. A coolant filter would still be a good idea, & ELC would not need to be changed as often.
