Warranty issues related to the Vanguard Oil Guard System aside (external oil tank, oil cooler, etc).... Why would you use this oil instead of a similarly formulated synthetic 15w-50 HDEO oil from another brand?

Well, Briggs recommends it, and my OPE runs smooth and quiet with it.

Isn't the Ca ~ 1000 ppm and Mg ~ 950 ppm, two of the most common detergents.

Vanguard Syn 15w50 is a detergent oil and this viscosity was recommended by B&S for commurcial use or anyone mowing for long hours in hot weather. Since I mow less than an acre here in FL. I use SHELL Rotella T5 in 10w30 in my 20HP B&S twin. Ed

I’m getting a new Ferris FW 35 delivered next week with the Vanguard EFI 28hp engine. I’m thinking I’ll change the oil at 5 hours and go with M1 15W50 over the Vanguard branded oil.
