The Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 in my Sonata. Noack is 6.6, it's the non natural gas stuff. I've actually got a 50/50 blend of 5w30 and 10w30 in it, so maybe even lower?

According to the Valvoline website the Advanced Synthetic 5w-20 has a Noack of 7.6.

That must be a few years old I'm guessing?

Mag1 SAE 30 monograde
API SN
Noack Volatility = 6.1 %
HTHS = 3.38 cP
TBN = 7.0
PP = -33C
KV100 = 10.94 cSt
Zinc = 850 ppm
Boron = 180 ppm
Moly = 40 ppm

https://mag1.com/products/49/pds/

For above freezing temps, and maybe even a touch below with that pour point, you get a shear free, low volatility oil, with a modern SN add pack.

Isn't NOACK testing done at 250°C ?!?!?! (482°F)

Maybe 230°C .... I know it's really high.

How can Pennz YB handle the heat?

Yup, I bought 31 quarts in December 2013 for $1 per quart. Only have 2 left now...

It's a shame they messed with that formula.

How about thicker oils, diesel oils and 20w-50’s? How low are these? Amsoil so far has the lowest. Who has the lowest of the cheap conv. oils? Single grade...multi grade?

The lowest NOACK loss I have seen for a d1G2 oil is 6% for Ravenol DXG 5W30.
That is basically identical to the d2 M1 5W30 that I have run in the past.
I have seen several oils around 4%, believe they have all been 10W30s.

GTX Magnatec 10W-30 6.95%, but they don't list it for any other viscosity (???):
