Today was the first day of my local NAPA Gold Filter Sale.

They have been promoting it to me for the past month its also on their windows and front sign.. so I asked the price of a filter for my 2003 Suburban with the 5.3L $4.05

I asked for two.. they only had one.

I am friends with the manager and two of the counter guys and it was a pretty big laugh. This filter is very common has tons of applications yet they are only stocking ONE.

They said that they have NO control over inventory..it all comes from Atlanta. So they ordered me one from the warehouse.

I have no idea if this is a regional sale or not but i havent bought a filter in many months waiting on this sale.

Forget those 1 OCI filters, I also have a 5.3 Suburban and stocked up on these for the same price as your Napa filter

Yes WIX is a good filter. But I'm sure for same price most folks would go with a synthetic filter VS a regular one

Some people are just anti-Fram (not saying Nick or krismoriah72 are).

A $4 NAPA Gold is a good deal. Solid filter.
A $4 Ultra is also a good deal. Solid filter.

As to which is better is an ongoing debate, and I would use either.

I would not use an Ultra for 20,000 miles, or multiple oil changes, but that is just me.
I'm not discounting that an Ultra could take it, I just can't make myself do it.

All they have to do is change the min/max in the computer. It will automatically keep the min on order.

In looking at the NAPA main website ad online, I don't see the NAPA Gold on sale.

Similar NG sale discussed here recently.

Good deal on a quality filter. These sales tend to be local/regional as many/most Napa stores independently owned. Spring and fall do seem to be the common time frame for those stores that have an NG promo.

I do find it odd the comment that your local store has no control over inventory. Quite certain my local Napa, and another not far control what they get and carry. Both franchised and independently owned. Perhaps your store a corporate store?

Is the 3675 that you linked to a bigger or better filter than the 3506 that mine crosses to?

Napa filter sales are store dependent. All usually run one a couple times a year.

I have 3 of the 5.3 vehicles and all get the xg3675. The 3675 is a little larger than the small 3506. Advance and several other parts stores used to list the 3675 size for most 5.3 engines but now they do not. The Fram website still list 3675 as an option for the 5.3. Wix makes a good filter but does not have the efficiency of the Wix.

Yes more capacity/Filtering than the 3506, I have it on my 01 Suburban 5.3 and no issues so far.

Is this a joke? Fram ultra is twice the filter for the same money.
