I was reading about the Lockheed L1011 TriStar yesterday and apparently they offered 3 color schemes for the cockpit:
1. gray, most common
2. blue, a few were spec'd this way
3. olive green, apparently none were built this way

Are there other commercial planes that offer customized cockpit colors? Of course the passenger compartments offer a multitude of options, but I had never thought much about the working part of the plane.

Aerospace companies use "Human Factors" experts when designing interiors and instrumentation layouts.

Scars remind us of where we have been, but do not have to dictate where we are going.

I can tell you that all current production 737's are gray, 777, 767, and possibly 747 are a brown color.

Forget the "Human Factors" experts... all I need to see is a lot of Zinc Chromate and Flat Black to feel good things are about to happen...

The C-130Es that I worked on were seafoam green and the C-130J is gray.

So keep in mind how much you paid for this advice.

I'm not aware of any cockpit color options in current production airliners. The cockpit colors are all the same.

Now, there are a ton of options on each model, so overhead panels and other systems controls have slight variances among airlines...but they are minor...

And all the same color...

Airlines can't decided whether customers want the theme "you have died and gone to heaven" or theme "welcome to the casino"... I prefer theme IP (Instructor pilot) a seat with the forward view...

Some of the mood lighting in the passenger compartments is a little too much for me. Even the purple-everywhere uniforms and interior/exterior of WOW Air planes would take some getting used to.

I've never seen one broken...

The end of the seat track is curved, so that when you slide the seats back, at the end of their travel, they slide outboard a few inches. You step out by stepping in between the console and the seat. No need to go over the console...

Now, hitting your head on the over head panel is another matter...and I manage to do that once a year, but my head doesn't seem to damage the switches at all...quite the opposite, in fact...

Grey and Tan, not horrible, but I'd prefer matte black.

Slightly off topic, but close.

Work had the Plant Control room refurbished with the control system upgrade.

The experts made the background a sort of olive green (not olive, lighter, and a little yellow), so the field of view over/past the screens is calming.

Then near the door out to the plant a red/orange colour to increase alertness on the way out to the problem.
