We have my wife's 12 yr old cousin for the weekend again. Spent some time with her on my private road today. She can take off from a stop and shift into 2nd gear now!

Building a memory is what you are doing!

My uncle taught me how to drive stick in his brand new CJ7 in 1977. Manual steering and 3 sp on the floor. I was only 13

When is she moving up to the Peterbuilt?

The next one to learn is to start on an incline then rev matching downshift.

Is she enjoying it? Never hurts to learn a manual transmission, that's for sure! I bet not many girls her age have any clue what a manual transmission is lol

She's doing it in the right vehicle. My 16yo is learning on my 2008 Jeep JKU. The carrot is that once she gets the hang of it, she'll get to drive my 2018 JLU. Ok, maybe just around the block, but she'll still get to drive it. grin

She's probably hoping Uncle Chris is going to give her that Wrangler on her 16th birthday!

I have debated finding a beater vehicle with a manual to teach my daughter on.

I used my older HD2500 M5 pickup with a deep low first gear to train a couple of my kids. Hard to stall that truck if using first. I could train my sons, not so much my daughter. Learning curve was a flat line. Took my wife who has an infinite amount of patience to teach her.
